Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to our 7th grade science class in room 237 at Pace Academy. We have a very busy and exciting year in store for us. I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience, and a high quality science education. Our goals this year are to enhance the knowledge of how science works, expand their lab experiences, continue to work on reading strategies, and to make proficient or advanced on their M-STEP in Science, Math, and ELA. Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. Moreover, most experts agree that parental involvement should go beyond attendance at teacher conferences and open house. We realize, however, that each of our families is unique – with its own priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints -- and so we try to provide as many different kinds of opportunities for parental involvement as possible. Please read the syllabus for more information about expectations and procedures for the school year. If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit my classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer at different events, you can contact me at (248) 569-1060 at extension 2237.
